The Fastest Way to Start Loving the Skin You're In

My new phrase of the year is  …And I’m okay with that (read on the find out why)

It really is interesting when I think about how upset I used to get when a guy told me he didn’t want to go out with me.  I’d get all bent out of shape and start wondering “what’s wrong with me?” “What if I was taller, thinner, more of a girly girl, etc. etc.?” “What if I looked like Beyonce or Halle Berry?” Or…(insert the girl next door or your favorite celebrity)

Comparing leads to self-doubt, self-hate and shame.  I don’t know about you, but when I feel like crap it’s pretty hard to get motivated to go to the gym or work on my business.  Besides, life would be rather boring if we all looked the same.

What I had to realize is that everyone does not like chocolate ice cream, so there is no need to try to change myself, just work on being the best chocolate ice cream I can be and those who love chocolate will find me.

Instead of wishing something was different, how about accepting what is and looking for how it serves you then go and do your REAL work in the world?

A lot of us are stuck in shame and guilt because we spend too much time listening to what the masses say is beautiful or acceptable.  There is way too much focus on what we look like versus what we can do.  It has millions of women and girls spending time, energy and money trying to change something that was made like that for a reason.  (link to change in what’s beautiful over the last 100 years)

I really used to hated my legs, “they’re too big” was a constant thought of mine (even before I gained any weight).  What I left out was how strong they were.  When I started focusing on what they could do and owned that I have been gifted with big, powerful legs, I started to use them to my advantage.  These legs have earned me the nickname, “The Rocket” on the bike because I can beat a lot of the guys in a sprint and I think that’s pretty darn cool.  My body is not made for running marathons and I’m okay with that because I can sprint with the best of them 🙂

What areas of your body or personality do you often talk negatively about?  How has that part or quirk served you?  Or what is a way that it actually could benefit you (if you stop hating on it?)

I’d love to hear your thoughts below.  What is your newly discovered super power?
