How Food and Weight Cease to be an Issue

For YEARS I was on a diet, looking for the next diet or stressing and obsessing about my weight.  I was unhealthy and certainly unhappy and felt trapped in my body.  Slowly, but surely, as I started to work though some other issues, like what I thought of myself and my body, my relationships with men, what I wanted to do in the next phase of my life, the weight started to regulate itself.  I looked forward to seeing how I could make it run at an optimal level because I needed the energy to run races, ride my bike several miles and start a business.

We think the weight is the problem, but it is the cumulative effect of avoiding and running away from other things.  I cannot tell you how many times I have a weight loss coaching session where we don’t talk about eating or exercising at all.  We are talking about family issues, men and relationship issues, money and work, what to do with their life.  Food seems to be the easiest thing to tackle and it’s something that we have to engage in several times a day, so we put our efforts and mental energy there, always falling short, because the idea of perfection we created in our minds does not exist.

In case no one has told you, it’s okay to go for your dreams and make mistakes in the process.  It’s okay to love yourself the way you are right now and in doing so, Mr. Right will see it and want some of that.  It’s okay to take time for yourself and take care of yourself.  You are not doing anyone justice by dragging yourself out of bed, being low energy and not being able to give your best most of the time.  Your body has been gracious enough to put up with the crap long enough.  If you have been mistreating and abusing your body, it’s time to apologize and vow to always do your best, know that your best will vary from day to day and it’s perfectly okay.

Intuitive Living is about listening to the cues and the little voice that guides you.  Not only in your eating, but in your money decision, relationships decision and in knowing what direction to take in this life.  It may not always look like you thought, but it will never steer you wrong (if you listen).

Challenge:

Look at other areas of your life what would you tackle when the weight is not an issue and if  you are blaming your weight or waiting to lose weight to make changes in that area why?

Take 10 minutes to see if you can hear that voice.  Don’t think too much, just let the words flow through you and see what you come up with.
